Let’s talk about memory keeping
The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.
Carl Jung
Because connection is magical, Connection to you and connection to themselves.
Taking the time to document the crazy, wild adventures, as well as the everyday, helps our kids develop their sense of self. They see pictures and remember feelings and process through those feelings. They see you adventuring along side of them and they feel connected and anchored to the family. Memory Keeping is a great way for kids to remember things that are good in their life. When you do connecting activities with your kids the bond is strengthened, when they are then able to revisit that event again and again the bond is again strengthened, those memories can help fight off fears and insecurities that creep up all through growing up. Keeping track of their likes and dislikes, their growth in height and in goals, their experiences all help them feel special. Memory keeping helps children feel connected.

OTHER WAYS TO BE A MEMORY KEEPER
These three options are not the only ways to be a memory keeper. These are just three that will produce some pretty cool books that you can have and use together with your kids over and over again. These three options give great visuals along with the journaling. They vary in skill level, but all are attainable and all will give you the memory keeper a sense of connection to your child as you creatively help them remember. If this is all still too much, you can just do the activity packs and keep track in your own way. One way is to just open a word document and name it your child’s name. Write about the day or the activity and insert a picture, it is as simple as that. You can print them out and put them in a binder, have them printed, or just look through it with your kid together on the computer. The point though is not to wait until they are older, but to go through it together. Something similar is you can open a gmail account for your kid and you can email them notes about activities and things you’ve done and attach pictures. Pictures are key, many kids are visual and need to see the joy and the fun. Another thing is a private or public instagram account and you keep track of all of your adventures with pictures and write ups. The child can look through it at anytime and if you want there are lots of companies that will just make a photobook from instagram. If you would like something already set up that matches with the activities and/or if you are excited about the idea of scrapbooking and connecting as you become a memory keeper for your family check out the options above.
