Parenting Resources
Connected Parenting Websites and Newsletters

Below are websites and newsletters that help parents work through the process of connecting with their child. They have lots of practical information. These sites are for all parents.

Blogs/websites that I follow because they make me a better parent

Aha! Parenting
Dr. Laura Markham has a free email newsletter that sends great tips and reminders about parenting once a week. She also has advice broken up by the child’s age. There are paid classes you can take but there is so much information on this page that is free, I refer to it all the time.

Lemon Line Adventures
I find Dayna fun to listen to, and there are great resources and blog posts that are free, but it is a paid program if you want the full details.

Generation Mindful
We have the full set of resources from them, but I think you will get a lot out of their articles and resources without even buying the kit.

The Parent Cue
Please know ahead of time that this is a Christian website. I love it and unlike the previous 3 it’s mostly free stuff. The articles are great, the activities are great, and there is a cool app that give you reminders (and a countdown clock until they go to college)

These are blogs specifically for parents of kids who have come from hard places, who have experienced trauma, or have specific needs that makes it hard for them to connect.

TBRI
This is the program that we use the most and know the most about. You can learn about it in this video. You will see mention of it throughout my blog posts and videos that we use. There are online courses, but also just lots of great information on both websites.

It is especially for those families that have grown through the foster care system or are apart of the foster care system.

Eileen Devine
Eileen is a therapist and an adoptive mom, she understands what it is like to parent a nonneurotypical child and helps you through the journey. There are classes and a Resilience Room which gives you a community and a blog that will keep you thinking about the different ways your child needs to be parented. She calls it Brain First Parenting because you parent through the lens of seeing your child where they are at at how their brain affects their behavior.
